What is a ‘traffic stop’? We think it means stopping a car on the road. But the first ‘legal’ definition of ‘traffic’ pertains to trade, barter, and buying and selling. Local govts pretend it’s ‘traffic’, meaning commerce, because feds can regulate commerce.
The definition-scam is their favorite. Legalese, which is a language, uses definitions that harm us. We think traffic is congestion of cars. But the Legalese definition is trade, barter, buy and sell.
In Webster’s dictionary, the first definition of traffic is “the vehicles, pedestrians, ships, or planes moving along a route”. But the first Legalese definition is “import and export trade; the business of bartering or buying and selling.”
To quote Haliey: Welch, ‘ya get me?’ Commonplace definition is favorable. Legal or Legalese definition is harmful. When their policy officers stop us, we must hear what they say, and use their definitions to comprehend them.
At a traffic stop, they are claiming we are trading, bartering, selling. We must rebut their claim. Being free isn’t easy.
