Many movies and restaurants ask people to turn off their cellular phones, but few of them ban them. This common courtesy to the prevalance of mobile phones is absent at a West Philadelphia High School, which bans the phones from school property. We have not found out the reasons for the ridiculous policy but we presume it is another attack on the basic lifestyle of students.Since most students can’t drive, can’t work, and can’t drink, it is not suprising that the school also forbids them from having phones. The ban is especially outrageous because it will force most students to leave their phones at home for the entire day. Even students who drive to school may not be able to store their phones in their cars, which are parked on school grounds.
If you think government schools suck, close them down and embrace private schools by voting Libertarian.
