San Diego, CA — Last night, there were almost 100 citizens protesting the curfew as tapes of Bob Marley played in the background. Tonight, a local acoustic band will provide music. “MotherÃs Maiden Name” will perform at the rally from 10:40 p.m. to about 11:40 p.m. The rallies are held nightly at Mission Bay Park across from the roller coaster.
“The rally is already a success,” said Dave, organizer of the rally. “Our goal is to repeal the curfew law because it is age-discrimination. In the process of achieving this goal, each night we give people under 18 a legal place to go after 10 p.m. Therefore, each night is a success.”
The curfew law may have an ironic result in the summer of 1997. By outlawing activity for citizens under 18, it has spurred a nightly rally that may encourage them to go out.
“These nightly rallies are only necessary because the City Council has stolen a fundamental right of people under 18,” said Dave. “All citizens should rally nightly until their freedom is restored.”
